Participate in Crazy Hair Day and 65 Roses to Fight Cystic Fibrosis

Crazy Hair Day and 65 Roses are two increasingly popular annual events that have rallied community support and helped raise funds in the fight against cystic fibrosis.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is one of the most common inherited, life threatening conditions to affect young Australians. Cystic fibrosis is life shortening and there is no cure, so it’s vital for more research to be done in order to give hope to those living with the condition. Here are two simple ways that you and your community can get involved.

Crazy Hair Day

Crazy Hair Day has become one of the most fun – and beloved – days on the charity fundraising calendar. It is open to any educational institution, including day care centres, preschools, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities. As the name suggests, the crazier the hair, the better, and funds are raised by a gold coin donation from participants.

Crazy wigs, coloured hairspray, pipe cleaners and glitter are all part of the fun, and teachers can join in too. You can register your school to partipate in Crazy Hair day by visiting their website http://www.crazyhair.com.au and selecting a date – you will then be sent your digital starter kit. It’s as simple as that! All funds raised go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

65 Roses

Named for the childlike mispronunciation of cystic fibrosis, “65 Roses” is an annual event that aims to raise funds and raise awareness. The goal for participants is to set themselves a goal with the theme of 65 at its centre. It could mean reading 65 books, selling 65 items on Gumtree, swimming 65 laps of the pool, running for 65 minutes or hosting a dinner party at $65 a head.

The possibilities are endless! All money raised goes straight to Cystic Fibrosis WA, in order to provide essential services for people who are living with CF and to deliver funding for critical research projects to find a cure. The ultimate goal of 65 Roses is to achieve their vision of “lives unaffected by CF”. To see how you can get involved visit http://65roseswa.org.au/event/65roseswa2016

Crazy Hair Day and 65 Roses are two of the most fun and entertaining days on the charity fundraising calendar: with a little bit of creativity and a big sense of adventure you can jump right in and get involved. You are only limited by your imagination, and all funds go to a great cause – a possible cure for cystic fibrosis.
